South Australian icon Balfours Bakery est. 1853 has further strengthened its ties to South Australian footy with a multi-year agreement to sponsor the Port Adelaide Football Club.

Balfours will be a Principal Partner to Port Adelaide’s AFL side and Joint Major Sponsor of the club’s SANFL team. Balfours will support the Power’s efforts to create world-class game day fan experiences and support the development and progress of the Magpies in the SANFL competition.

Port Adelaide Chief Executive Keith Thomas was delighted two iconic South Australian brands have come together in the 150th Year anniversary of the club.

“Balfours Bakery is an iconic South Australian brand with history that dates before even ours,” he said.

“We have grown up together in this great State and must therefore stick together.

“Balfours Bakery and Port Adelaide are the perfect match.”

Port Adelaide Football Club will celebrate its 150th anniversary year with a range of initiatives that reference its origins and success in the sport, including wearing its iconic prison bar guernsey on the national stage. Balfours is proud to have been part of that journey and is delighted to be back behind the bars, especially in this commemorative season.

Erik de Roos, Balfours Bakery’s Chief Marketing Officer, described the partnership as a significant announcement for South Australia.

“We are delighted to have been able to reach an agreement with the Port Adelaide Football Club for this fantastic occasion,” he said.

“Port Adelaide is a proud community-based club with core beliefs shared by our Bakery.

“Balfours has a proud history and longstanding connection with South Australian footy – they go together like grass stains on a guernsey.”
